The number of hours of instruction needed to advance from one level to another depends, in large part, on the type of course you select, your ability to learn a new language, knowledge of other languages, etc.
Immersion courses and study programs in the United States are more intensive in nature and therefore provide faster results.
Private instruction allows for quicker learning because it provides more opportunities to speak English in class, and to work at your own individual pace. At the same time, curriculum can be tailored to your individual needs.
The following table indicates the time needed to reach each proficiency level depending upon the type of course taken. It is cumulative and shows the total number of hours necessary to reach each level from the most basic level (0).
To calculate your Training Gap, subtract the total number of hours indicated below your current proficiency level from those of your target level.
