    Students who wish to earn the Certificate in TESOL must be admitted to the Graduate School, but may pursue the certificates independent of a master's degree program. The English Department offers an 18-credit-hour Certificate in the Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). The certificate courses in applied linguistics prepare students for classroom instruction, testing, and materials evaluation and preparation in the area of TESOL.
